Montrose gearing up for festival's return this weekend

The Montrose Playhouse is just one of 20 venues hosting 65 bands over the course of the weekend.

Starting this evening (Friday) venues and visitors are preparing for three days of performances which will showcase 83 live gigs across 20 venues in the town.

And organisers are pulling out all the stops to ensure Mo-Live 23 surpasses expectations of music fans in the town and beyond up to this Sunday (May 28).

Pubs, hotels and golf clubs will host 65 bands - both local and from further afield – in what is being billed as a family-friendly festival of music.

Stuart Thornton of the Black Abbot pub, who is one of the volunteer organisers, said: “The organising committee has put in a lot of hard work to bring another fantastic line up of live acts to Montrose. We’ve extended the event to three days because there is just so much great music we want to bring to the public.

“There’s something for all tastes - from solo artists to ten-piece bands, covers, blues, soul and funk, rock and roll and everything in between!

“It’s going to be quite a weekend for music in Dundee and Angus which is great and we’re looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike.”

While there is no booking or tickets required for any of the performances, any funds raised from the gigs will benefit local charities.
