Rescheduled concert date for local band Emerald Sunday

Local chart-toppers Emerald Sunday have announced they will play live at Kirriemuir Town Hall in March.

The Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown forced the group to cancel their previous tour which had been planned for 2020 but now that restrictions have been eased, it’s full steam ahead for their long-awaited gig. The band’s Christmas single I Wish the World Would Sing reached number one in the Amazon Rock Chart and number two in the overall Amazon Best Sellers.

This week, ACP caught up with the band’s guitarist and songwriter Alan Hunter who explained the impact Covid restrictions have had on the band’s progress.

Alan said: “Just before lockdown we released our album Willow not knowing what was on the horizon and lined up a tour for 2020. Unfortunately, we were forced to put the brakes on our big album tour.”

    He added: “During lockdown, I began to write the follow up album and record demos of the songs in my studio. In June last year, we again hooked up with Embrace's Richard McNamara and began recording for a new LP.”

    Emerald Sunday are currently working on the new album which they hope to release in 2023 along with singles throughout this year. They will also play live dates in Bradford, Manchester, and Dundee in the coming months. Joining Emerald Sunday on their concert will be Oasis tribute act Stop the Clocks, local singer/songwriter Katie Nicoll and special guest Chris Helme formerly of indie legends,The Seahorses.
