PANTO fever is gearing up again in Montrose as The Song Shop prepares for this year’s production.
The young cast members are busy in rehearsal as they prepare to bring the story of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ to life in Montrose Town Hall from Tuesday, December 4, to Saturday, December 8.
Building on the success of ‘Cinderella’ and the sell-out performances of ‘Aladdin’ last year, this year’s production promises to be a rollercoaster of delight.
With a script written for a professional production, the pantomime is traditional in nature, with humour for adults and children. It has audience participation in abundance, and is peppered with songs old and new, to cater for a wide range of tastes.
The wardrobe team has work tirelessly to create bright, original costumes for the army of performers.
Bringing the action to life is a cast of experienced principals, among them a professional performer, who has managed to fit The Song Shop pantomime into a busy festive calendar.
The production is balanced with some new faces taking roles for the first time. There is an extensive cast, and a different team of children for each show, ranging in age from three upwards.
The cast is drawn from Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar, Laurencekirk and Stonehaven.
Song Shop founder Fraser McGlynn said: “We are hoping that we will receive the same level of support as in our previous productions of ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Aladdin’.
“The cast and production teams are working hard to maintain the high standard expected of The Song Shop.”
Tickets are available from Henry Hogg’s Newsagents, High Street Montrose from December 15 or The Song Shop on 01674 673236. Evening performances start at 7.30 p.m. with a matinee on the Saturday afternoon at 3.30 p.m.
