Panto time for Puss

PUSS in Boots will entertain audiences at the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath, this festive season.

The panto, which runs from December 9 to 28, features well-known faces from TV’s Musicality, River City and Britain’s Got Talent, and a popular radio personality.

The fun packed panto unveils the folk of the Land of Loch Lovely - stony broke and living in fear of the Wicked Witch Wysteria, played by Musicality winner Donna Hazelton.

She’s desperate for foolish King Juan, played by Radio Tay’s Graeme Waggott, to take as his bride. But he keeps spurning her amorous advances so she demands the kingdom’s riches or she’ll unleash her son, the terrible and ever hungry Ogre Rumbletum.

Meanwhile at the Loch Lovely windmill, Dame Doris Dimple, played by Britain’s Got Talent’s Edward Reid, struggles to make enough tattie scones to deal with Ogre Rumbletum’s appetite. And her sons are no help. Handsome Hamish thinks he stands a chance with Princess Heather, played by River City’s Pamela Byrne.

But when one of Wysteria’s spells backfire Puss in Boots arrives in town, he transforms Hamish Dimple into the Marquis of Carabas. And the folk of Loch Lovely are off on an adventure of a lifetime.

Jim Millar, Angus Council’s cultural services spokesman, said: “I’m pleased to welcome back Bruce James Productions to the Webster Memorial Theatre. Once again, this is an opportunity for the people of Angus to experience a quality professional pantomime on their doorstep.”

Puss in Boots will run for three weeks with over 30 performances.
