THE INNOVATIVE new production of Robin Jenkins’ classic novel, ‘The Cone Gatherers’ by Aberdeen Performing Arts, opened at Dundee Rep Theatre this week and runs until Saturday as part of their UK tour.

The new play is the third in the company’s trilogy of Scottish classics following the critically-acclaimed ‘Sunset Song’ (2008) and ‘The Silver Darlings’ (2009) in a visually-stunning fresh adaptation, headed by director Kenny Ireland.

The nine-strong cast includes Scottish theatre veteran Tom McGovern in the leading role of Duror alongside Ben Winger, Helen McKay, Rodney Matthew, John Kielty, Jennifer Black, Greg Powrie, Helen Logan and Maxine Hamilton.

It demonstrates the destructive power of envy and prejudice in this classic Scottish novel which tells the tale of two brothers. They are happily employed gathering cones in a forest in order to replenish the trees felled for the WW11 effort. Tickets from the box office on 01382 223530 or www.dundeerep.co.uk
