The sun comes out for great bake off for Annie

FORGET Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry, members of the Rising Youngstars Musical Theatre Group staged their own ‘bake off’ on Saturday to raise over £600 for their forthcoming production of ‘Annie’.

Members were delighted to welcome 17 entries on the day in the Northmuir Hall.

Committee member Yvonne Fraser said: “This is the first bake off the group has done and there were 17 entries of delicious baking submitted; all the entries were extremely good.

“Well done to Mrs Catriona Turner who won the Bake Off with her choccy Malteser sandwich cake and who has won four tickets to see ‘Annie’.

“We would also like to thank everyone who submitted baking either in the cake and candy stall or for the bake off - nothing went to waste and everything was sold or eaten.”

“The Rising Youngstars Musical Theatre Group would like to thank everyone who helped with our coffee afternoon and making it such a success. We would also like to thank the general public for the overwhelming support shown on Saturday and everyone who was there had a fabulous time.

“We raised a total of £639.90 which is tremendous. With fund-raising and assistance from Event Funding from Angus Council towards the cost of the Town Hall means we can put on a really good show for the public.”

During the afternoon the craft table, face painting and nail painting were very busy. The bric-a-brac stall was very popular with everyone enjoying the raffle and silent auction.

People also took the opportunity to buy tickets to see ‘Annie’ which will be performed at Kirriemuir Town Hall from Wednesday, June 12, to Saturday, June 15. If anyone is interested in purchasing tickets please contact Diann Baxter, secretary on 01307 456808.
