Rhythm Zoo will perform at the Montrose Spring Blues Event on Saturday.

Montrose is the place to be this weekend if you are a lover of Blues music, for there are not one but three of the U.K’s best Blues bands playing in three venues.

Saturday will see Busby’s Live, Sharky’s Bar and The Star Hotel host a variety of bands in the event organised by The Smokie Blues Organisation.

Busby’s Live will kick off its programme at 2 p.m. with TC & The Moneymakers.

They have been making big Blues waves on the British Blues circuit in the last few years with their high energy brand of classic hard drivin’ house rockin’ Blues. They play classic Blues with a youthful energy and dynamism that you’d expect from US players and Blues veterans.

Despite their recent success and recognition, do not be fooled into thinking these are new kids on the Blues block. They have years of playing under their belts and this is evident in the commitment and approach to a genre that they’re so passionate about.

With appearances across the UK at the country’s leading Blues clubs and festivals, they have gained great respect and recognition from leading players, promoters and reviewers.

Next up at 5 p.m. are The Groovamatics with John Whitehill followed by Rhythm Zoo at 8 p.m.

Groovamatics are Johnny Whitehill on guitar, Mick Cantwell on vocals, sax and harp, John Morgan on bass and Barry Race on drums.

From Gateshead, they formed in 2011 and gelled quickly as only the very talented players can.

Having taken some time out to refine, develop and reform, Rhythm Zoo’s sound has never been better. Flirting with the blues and with a hint of rock, the band pushes all the boundaries from full on drama through to dark moodiness and then a furnace-like blast of energy and excitement.

Fronted by Welsh songstress Andi Hall on vocals, with Phil Dean on guitar and the band’s newest member and main song writer, Pete Rea, the band is driven by the rock solid rhythm section of Dermot Hall on drums and Pete Betts on bass.

Sharky’s Bar will host TC & The Moneymakers at 5 p.m, The Groovamatics at 8 p.m. and Rhythm Zoo at 11 p.m.

The Star Hotel’s line-up begins at 5 p.m. with Rhythm Zoo, TC & The Moneymakers at 8 p.m. and The Groovamtics at 11 p.m.
