The Outside Track will be the guests at Montrose Folk Club on Thursday, September 12 in The Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose.

Montrose Folk Club will be switching from a Tuesday to a Thursday for their next few guest nights.

The Outside Track are a stunning synthesis of virtuosity and energy. Their marriage of Canadian, Scottish and Irish music and song has been rapturously received around the world.

Hailing from Scotland, Ireland and Cape Breton, the five members of the band are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to the creation of new music and song. The band includes one member each from the world famous Rankin family from Cape Breton and from the next generation of the legendary Black Family (of Mary and Frances Fame) from Ireland.

The Outside Track have been the Winners of the Best Group category in both the Live Ireland Awards and the TIR Awards. As one of the top current Celtic Acts touring the UK, they effortlessly fuse traditional and contemporary music and song with winning Joie de Vivre. Recently joined by acclaimed singer, Aoife Scott, from the legendary Black Family of Ireland, they blend fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, whistle, stepdance and vocals with breathtaking vitality.

The members are Mairi Rankin on fiddle, stepdance and vocals, Aoife Scott on vocals, whistle and bodhran, Ailie Robertson on harp, Fiona Black on accordion and Cillian O’Dalaigh on guitar and vocals.
