IT will be second time lucky for the Michelle Burke Trio when they appear at Montrose Folk Club at the Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose, next Tuesday at 8.00pm.

This is a replacement date for the band, which was originally scheduled to appear at the club last November, a gig which was cancelled on account of the severe snow at that time.

Michelle was previously the lead singer of the Irish/American supergroup, Cherish the Ladies, but is now commencing a solo career, having left the band earlier this year.

She is touring with her band to promote her début solo album, Pulling Threads. The Michelle Burke Trio features two award winning musicians, Anna Massie, now of Blazing Fiddles, on guitar and fiddle, and James Ross, on keyboards.

Although based in Edinburgh since 2002, Michelle hails originally from rural East Cork. She studied music at University College, Cork, majoring initially in piano, but graduating as a singer.

Her radiantly fresh and honeyed voice brought Michelle to the attention of Cherish the Ladies in 2007.

Joining such a long- established and illustrious outfit, which helped launch the careers of Liz Carroll, Eileen Ivers and Kathy Ryan amongst others, was a crash course for Michelle in many ways, both in the rigours of long distance touring and in singing for crowds of thousands.

Everyone is welcome at Montrose Folk Club next Tuesday for what is sure to be a great evening of quality song and music.

The doors at the Links Hotel on Tuesday, March 1 will be open at 7.30 pm with Michelle Burke on stage at 8 pm.
