AFTER a year-long break, the trustees of Strathmore Estates Limited have announced The Grand Scottish Proms will once again be performed at Glamis Castle on Saturday, July 30.
The Glamis Proms has joined with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra to bring an evening of unrivalled entertainment in the setting of the private lawns at Glamis.
Soloist Giordano Luca, the young Italian tenor who won the audience prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 2009, will join the RSNO.
He began his singing career, aged 12, in the chorus of Maria Madre del Redentore in Rome.
In 2007 he started lessons at the Music Institute of Milan with Carlo Gaifa, and he now continues his studies in Rome with soprano Clizia Aloisi.
He performed with Montserrat Caballe in a Christmas concert in Rome, which was broadcast all over the world.
The orchestra will be conducted by the Welsh conductor Grant Llewellyn who is renowned for his exceptional charisma, energy and easy authority in music of all styles and periods.
He has held positions with three European orchestras.
Notable recent European guest engagements have included the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The evening will be brought to an end by a firework spectacular produced by the winner of the Scottish round of the British Fireworks Championships, lighting up the spectacular grounds of the castle.
Early bird tickets are available now until March 31 from www.glamis-castle.co.uk, telephone 01307 840393 and the Box Office, Glamis Castle, Angus, DD9 1RJ.
