Programme for Prom announced

MUSIC lovers are invited to pack their picnics and take to the magnificent Glamis Castle for an evening of magical music on Saturday, August 11.

The Prom at Glamis will bring together local and international musicians and will provide outdoor music-making on a grand scale.

The evening will feature the Royal Scottish National Orchestra together with soprano Ailish Tynan, renowned conductor Grant Llewellyn and the Lonach Pipe Band in a programme of classical and traditional Scottish music before culminating in a grand firework finale.

Music lovers can be assured of a very special evening of musical entertainment from a mix of talented artists

The orchestral selections will include Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, as well as MacCunn’s Land of the Mountain and the Flood, Coates’ The Dambusters March and John Williams’ Olympic Fanfare and Theme. Conducting the evening’s performance will be Music Director of the North Carolina Symphony, Grant Llewellyn, a man renowned for his exceptional charisma, energy and easy authority in music of all styles and periods.

Soprano Ailish Tynan will be singing amongst others Gershwin’s Summertime from Porgy and Bess, Puccini’s Un bel di from Madame Butterfly and O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi. The Lonach Pipe Band who will perform Cathcart and Highland Cathedral with the RNSO which will add a new dimension to the event.
