OH boy! The world’s most successful rock ‘n’ roll musical is back!
There are many imitations, but the original and best -The Buddy Holly Story - is back and it will be performed at the Caird Hall, Dundee from Tuesday, April 27 to Saturday, April 30.
Fifty years ago, the man who changed the face of popular music tragically died in a plane crash aged just 22. Buddy tells the story of the three years in which he became the world’s top recording artist with a show that features over 20 of Buddy’s greatest hits including Peggy Sue, That’ll Be The Day, Oh Boy, Rave On, Heartbeat and Raining In My Heart.
As well as over 15 years in the West End, Buddy has played eight and a half years on the road in the UK and Ireland. Now, 40,000 ‘Oh Boys!’ since it first opened in London’s West End, Buddy is about to enter its 22nd year of paying tribute to the musical genius whose untimely death was immortalised in Don McLean’s ‘American Pie’ as “the Day the Music Died”.
Written and produced by Alan Janes, the show guarantees two terrific hours of ‘fail-safe family entertainment.
Janes said: “We’re looking forward to once again playing to all our fans across the UK, especially as Buddy is the perfect antidote for recession depression”.
With a cast of 12 and with the Big Bopper’s Chantilly Lace and Ritchie Valens’ La Bamba completing a stellar musical line up, Buddy is still the hottest ticket around, and a not to be missed evening of family entertainment that will have music lovers from 8 to 80 toe tapping, hand clapping and rocking in the aisles!
