On Saturday May 10, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr. will be back to entertain audiences of the 21st Century in their own unique way, for a special concert full of music, laughter and sophisticated style.
David Alacey’s outstanding show ‘The Rat Pack, which is Britain’s longest running tribute to the original trio, comes to Dundee Rep for one night only.
The show, which has performed for Royalty and leading venues such as the O2 in London, has been voted the number one Rat Pack show in The UK by The Agents Association of Great Britain for The National Tribute Awards 2013. This year the guys are joined by special guests including a special salute to the talents of Miss Liza Minnelli and the stunning L.A Showgirls. David said: “I’m thrilled that, after performing this show for so many years, we are still able to come out on top bringing a timeless act to a new generation. I grew up listening to Frank, Dean and Sammy and I get a buzz to think that our show will help to continue the tradition.”
The show accurately recreates the legendary performances of Frank, Dean and Sammy and features a star cast including Des Coleman who played Lenny in Eastenders and is a regular reporter for ‘The One Show’ and ‘This Morning’.
They are backed by the swinging Don Hunt band. Mr Hunt has also served as Bruce Forsyth’s musical director for over 30 years and during an amazing career has held the same role for the likes of Anthony Newley, Bing Crosby and even the real Sammy Davis Jnr.
For those too young to remember, the Rat Pack trio ruled the entertainment world with hit records and classic movies such as ‘Oceans Eleven’ and ‘Robin and The Seven Hoods’.
They were also part of a unique period in entertainment history, when the top stars enjoyed the company of influential friends such as JFK, Martin Luther King and even Mafia don – Sam Giancana. David, Des and Paul recreate what the crooners enjoyed most, working with a live audience.
Over the last few years the boys have teamed up on occasions with many renowned performers including Buddy Greco who was a regular performer with the original Rat Pack.
He said: “I can honestly say that having toured with these guys, they are as close as anyone will ever get to my dear friends – Frank, Dean and Sammy.
“At times it was just like being back with my pals at The Sands in the sixties – so much fun and it really doesn’t get any better than that. As for David Alacey – well this guy really is Sinatra – it’s frightening.”
‘The Rat Pack’ includes all of the hit songs made popular by the legendary performers such as ‘Ain’t That A Kick In The Head’, ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’, ‘My Way’, ‘Mr Bojangles’ and of course, ‘New York New York’. Since Robbie Williams first brought the music of these legends to a younger audience, there have been many Rat Pack related shows and CD releases. However none capture the feel of a real night in a Las Vegas cabaret room, more than ‘The Rat Pack’ and The Dundee Rep is the perfect setting for such a show.
So don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity, to experience a special swinging night in the company of the Kings of the Entertainment world. There will even be a chance for one lucky lady from the audience, to take the place of Nancy and sing a duet with Frank during the show. Memories are made of this!
