DD8 Music of Kirriemuir is appealing to local musicians to feature in a bandstand marathon which will take place across the country in September.

The local community organisation has received the support of Angus Council for the open air event place at the magnificent setting of the camera obscura on Kirrie Hill on Sunday, September 9 from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Graham Galloway, DD8 Music chairman, met Angus councillor Jeanette Gaul and Ron Ashton, Head of Neighbourhood Services last week to discuss Kirrie’s contribution to the nationwide event.

On September 9 over 500 events will be happening simultaneously across the country to celebrate the cultural Olympiad and DD8 Music plans to have a broad selection of local musicians playing.

Graham said: “The council is right behind it and Jeanette Gaul has been fantastic. We are still in the process of confirming bands but certainly the DD8 Music youth group will be taking part. Hopefully we will have a few stalls, things for kids and a barbecue. This event has been growing over the years. It is a great idea using community spaces for events; we are community minded so it two marries up well with our ethos.” Anyone interested in performing or taking part should contact dd8music@hotmail.co.uk
