Double bill at folk club

MONTROSE Folk Club will present a double bill of The Coaltown Daisies and Gary Anderson at the Links Hotel, Montrose on Tuesday, September 6 at 8 pm.

Gary Anderson is from Montrose whilst The Coaltown Daises are based in Kirkcaldy. Both acts are regular performers at the successful acoustic music evenings which are organised by The Coaltown Daisies in their hometown of Kirkcaldy.

Both Gary Anderson and the Coaltown Daisies are talented singers-songwriters. However, in addition, they each feature at their gigs material from the best of other contemporary songwriters.

The Coaltown Daisies are Lynzy Moutter and Vivienne Bern. After pursuing solo careers for some years, their shared passion for acoustic music led them to collaborate as The Coaltown Daisies in Summer 2010.

Their music highlights dual harmonies, intelligent lyrics and raw emotion. Their musical influences include Bruce Springsteen, The Indigo Girls, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Janis Joplin and The Dixie Chicks.

Gary Anderson is a long established singer-songwriter and guitarist from Montrose. He has played with various bands since the age of 16. Most recently he had been a member of Celtic/acoustic Band, Heidrum, and is a member of the rock band, Fā€™nā€™3Gs. He has an eclectic style of playing and singing ā€“ everything from his own original material to a mix of folk, rock and country covers.

In 2010, Gary released his debut solo album, Lochside Reflections. It includes several of his own compositions as well as songs adapted from poems by local Montrose poets, Raymond Vettese and Rachel Fox.

Everyone is welcome at Montrose Folk Club next Tuesday to enjoy an evening of the best of acoustic music. Doors open at 7.30pm with Gary Anderson and The Coaltown Daisies on stage at 8 pm.
