AUSTRALIAN singer/songwriter Marisa Yeaman is bringing her captivating stories of love, life and journeys on several continents to the Links Hotel, Montrose for a special supper and acoustic show on Friday, October 21 at 7 pm.
Marisa is in the UK to promote the release of her third album, “Voices from the underground”. Her self-produced and self-released album recently debuted at a very respectable number 4 on the critic based European Americana Charts.
If songs are a journal of the times in which we live, then Marisa has been writing her own truth for most of her life.
Spending years as a young child travelling with her family around Australia has instilled in her an affinity for the “characters of circumstances” that live amongst us every day.
Her sound is her own, worn off the edges of country twang, the soulfulness of the blues and the literal sensibility of modern day folk.
Add a passionate voice drenched in real experience, rich from a roar to a whisper and you begin to understand why Yeaman never quite fits squarely into any musical box.
This female troubadour has toured Europe, UK, USA and Australia, building a loyal audience for her work, sharing stages with some of the most respected songwriters of our times including Tom Russell, Chris Smither and Ron Sexsmith. An authentic and intimate performer, she writes with the eye of a journalist and the heart of a traveller. Entry for supper and show is £27. See www.linkshotel.com
