Celebrating 50 years of number one Beatles hits, The Magic of the Beatles is coming to town with its Golden Anniversary Tour.
The Please Please Me tour will stop off at the Caird Hall, Dundee on Saturday, October 5.
In 1963, the single Please Please Me launched John, Paul, George and Ringo’s chart-topping career. It announced the arrival of a band that was to become the biggest-selling recording artists in the world.
During the sixties, the Fab Four’s live shows saw fan hysteria never seen before or since – leading to the coining of the phrase “Beatlemania”.
”The Magic of the Beatles superbly recreates these legendary live performances, and more,” says show producer Michael Taylor.
The show promises to transport music fans from The Beatles’ Mop Top roots to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond, from Love Me Do to Let It Be.
Michael continues: “Fantastic costumes, brilliant vocals and incredible musicianship come together in a lavish magical musical trip back to yesterday,” says Michael Taylor.
”Please Please Me was The Beatles very first number one hit and was the genesis of the greatest band in the world. Fifty years on, this fantastic show ensures the Fab Four’s incredible musical legacy lives on, live and in concert.
“The Magic of the Beatles is a two-hour spectacular featuring superb costumes and a cast of skilled musicians and singers.
“It authentically recreates the live concert shows of John, Paul, George and Ringo that generated fan hysteria never seen before or since.”
The production has been on a UK-wide tour and visits towns and even, in some cases, venues that presented The Beatles during the early sixties. The Magic of the Beatles retraces The Beatles infamous live shows and offers an insight into Beatlemania at its height.
It boasts that it takes audiences from The Beatles’ Mop Top roots to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond.
“The Magic of the Beatles is the band’s greatest, best-loved hits performed live – from Love Me Do to Let it Be,” says Michael. It’s the most authentic Beatles show to take to the road, even down to original guitars and amps used by the band.”
