MEMBERS of the Carnoustie and District Youth Brass Band are starting 2012 where they left off in 2011 - once again in the spotlight.
They have capped a momentous twelve months by landing another award to add to the 2011 British Youth Brass Band premier section.
Their musical director, Michael Robertson, received the call from BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Awards producers confirming the group won the youth band of the year award.
And Ross Knight from Carnoustie, who plays with the band and who is studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, made it a memorable double after being announced as winner of the age 18-21 soloist award.
On Christmas Eve the players were also part of the BBC celebration from Paisley Abbey.
The musicians are now turning their sights towards January 29, when they will play in the Festival of Music in Manchester.
The concert will be broadcast on Frank Renton’s listen to the Band on Radio 2 in March, with the winner given another opportunity to perform on the station.
