A combination of new and old hits box offices this week with the added bonus of a new movie from French director Luc Besson.

First up is ‘The Hunger Games - Catching Fire’ in which, due to their victory in the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta have provoked the anger of President Snow; their flouting of the Games’ rules allowing them both to win has sparked a rebellion intensified by their victory tour. Before Katniss can see if the rebellion succeeds, the duo are forced to re-enter the arena as part of the Quarter Quell, the 75th Hunger Games that pits past victors against each other.

Luc Besson teams up with Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones for ‘The Family’ in which an ageing gangster moves to France with his family as part of a witness protection programme. Telling locals that he’s writing a book on the Allied landings in the Second World War, he tries to keep a low profile. But when his past begins to catch up with him, he must find a way out...

In ‘Don Jon’, Jon (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a superficial New Jersey man who is addicted to sex and porn and able to reel off everything that matters to him in a list. He decides, however, that he must change his ways upon meeting Barbara if he is ever to have a chance of breaking his vicious circle and finding true love.

Classic ‘Gone with the Wind’ is also being re-released to mark the centenary of star Vivien Leigh’s birth, the perfect excuse to bring back to the big screen hot-headed southern belle Scarlett O’Hara’s tumultuous affair with the charming Rhett Butler (Clark Gable).
