BRECHIN Photographic Society was established in 1888 and will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary in grand style.
This year members will accept the honour of hosting the 90th Scottish International Salon.
This is an International Photographic competition presented by the Scottish Photographic Federation, attracting work submitted by photographers from over 50 countries around the world and culminating in an exhibition of photographic expertise to be held in the Mechanics Institute in Brechin from May 18 to June 8.
The competition is judged by an international panel, who will select approximately 25% of the world’s most outstanding photographs for display.
To support the main exhibition the Town House Museum in Brechin will display some of the best images from Brechin Photographic Society, alongside fascinating memorabilia from their extensive archives.
There is a tremendous amount of work in putting on an annual event of this size, however preparations are well underway and BPS members are working tirelessly to ensure Brechin becomes the focus of attention for the world’s best photographers and those who appreciate their work.
This year there will be three categories for competition entries; monochrome prints, colour prints and nature prints. The closing date for entries is March 30, 2013. Full details of this event can be found at http://www.scottish-photographic-salon.org/.
