The next exhibition at The Meffan in Forfar is by Glasgow-based artist Sam Cartman.
Sam’s paintings are a very personal response to being in the landscape, his paintings are informed by the experience of being in a certain place at a certain time and his memory of this. His ideas for work are shaped by image and composition, his subject matter starts as a personal choice from simply looking at his environment.
These experiences are the basis for his paintings, whether it is the landscape of Shropshire, Cumbria or, more recently, the urban environment of Glasgow and the landscapes of the West Coast.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, January 7 and runs until Saturday, February 4, admission free. The Meffan is open from 10 am - 5 pm (closed Sunday).
