Places are booking up fast for VisitScotland’s latest chairman’s industry event for Angus and Dundee.
Hosted by the national tourism organisation in partnership with V&A at Dundee and Creative Dundee, the free event will explore the major developments in the tourism industry during the Winning Years in the run up to Homecoming 2014, and discuss how businesses and organisations can work together to drive tourism growth in Angus and Dundee.
VisitScotland Chairman Mike Cantlay will be one of the keynote speakers on the day. He said: “Our culture is one of our greatest assets and Angus and Dundee has a wealth of world class cultural events, festivals, collections and organisations.
“The fact that the V&A has chosen to work with partners here to bring V&A at Dundee into being is testament to the confidence there is in the cultural sector in this area.
“The Year of Creative Scotland will encourage the cultural and tourism sectors to work in closer partnership to enhance cultural tourism in Scotland, introducing new opportunities to see, and experience Scotland’s vibrant culture - in every corner in Scotland, including Angus & Dundee.”
Philip Long, Director of V&A at Dundee will also be speaking at the event, providing an update into the work around the development and what this means for businesses within the area. Working in partnership with Creative Dundee, the event will showcase local creative contacts and suggest ideas of how the two industries might work in collaboration.
There will also be a presentation from VisitScotland’s Digital & Media team, unveiling the new destination management system that will help tourism businesses get the most out of working with visitscotland.com.
There are still a few places left for the event, which takes place from 10am to 3.30pm at the Rep Theatre in Dundee, on Tuesday, February 28. To register visit http://angusdundee.eventbrite.co.uk
