THE official launch of the latest collection at the House of Dun, between Brechin and Montrose, was celebrated last week with a reception for the donor’s family and National Trust for Scotland officials.
Hosted by trust chairman Sir Kenneth Calman, the event celebrated the arrival of the Douglas Hutchison art collection which features stunning artworks by acclaimed Scottish contemporary artists.
The collection of 20th century Scottish paintings was given to the trust in 1999 by Douglas Hutchison who had been collecting art since the end of the Second World War. The works were previously on display in the trust’s Charlotte Square office in Edinburgh.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are pieces by Peploe, Caddell, Hunter, Redpath and Eardley.
The trust hopes the new collection will introduce a whole new audience to both the House of Dun and Angus.
