Montrose artist Kim Canale is stepping out from behind the canvas and into the spotlight as she hosts her first solo show.
Regular visitors to her home studio are aware she is more used to organising exhibitions show-casing the work of established and up and coming artists, but this time the focus is on her own work.
Wall Projects has an established reputation for exhibiting interesting and challenging contemporary art in the north-east in the welcoming atmosphere of the home of artist and owner Kim.
This latest show will be the fist time she has exhibited her own work in Montrose in a solo show.
Her last two joint exhibitions were in Florence and Glasgow at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts with awarding winning artists Patricia Cain and Mauro Betti.
Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2001 studying Design then a Masters of Fine Art, Kim has never looked back.
She opened Wall Projects Contemporary art in 2006, and has provided a convivial venue that attracts art lovers and collectors from all over the UK.
The past few years have seen her being profiled in several leading publications as well as gaining recognition from leading art figures.
Richard Demarco, one of Scotland’s most influential advocates for contemporary art through his work at the Richard Demarco Gallery and the Demarco European Art Foundation, simply stated: “She is a notable artist and owner of an international gallery based in Montrose.”
Kim’s exhibition ‘Welcome to Bohemia: paintings + polaroids’ is a mixture of works from 2012 to the present day.
Kim said: “Abstraction and metaphysical paintings, with shapes and colours, have always had their own emotional force and it is this form of painting which excites me the most’.
The exhibition opened on Saturday and runs until Saturday, August 23. To arrange a time to view please contact Kim Canale on 077143 68203 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
