There was no first team cricket at the weekend, the Strathie trip to Gordonians being called off due to wet underfoot conditions.

In what has been a disappointing season, mainly due to the weather, the first team has only one more league match to go - away to Forthill this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile, the highlights of the second team victory over Guthrie Park at Lochside on Sunday were a hundred for opening batsman Gary Hewitson and a hat trick of wickets by bowler Alan McKay.

Gary hit one six and nine fours on his way to a ton, aided by Fraser Couston (23) and quite a few extras. Alan McKay was top bowler with four wickets, including that final three ball haul of wickets.

The second team is at home again this coming Sunday, when they entertain Clackmannan.

Tournament success

The recent Margaret Wight Memorial Tournament was a successful one for Farmington Blue United.

Playing the under 11 competition, prior to their early step up to under 13 level, Blue united were draw in a group with teams from Monifieth, Raith Rovers, Hibs and hosts East Fife.

Three wins and a draw were enough for the Farmington youngsters to book a place in the final four where they would face Jeanfield.

A tight affair saw the Forfar team secure a 1-0 victory, which was followed by 2-1 victory over Falkirk in the final.
