Season gets under way for runners

The road running season got well and truly under way at the weekend with a a good turnout of Forfar Road Runners competing at Sunday’s women only Smokies 10 Mile Road Race.

First back for the club was Karen Campbell finishing in 37th place in a personal best of 78 minutes and 42 seconds.

Rachel Young was next back in 82.42 followed by Elizabeth McInally (85.39), Sandra Pattie (87.55), Michelle Nicoll (89.27), Angie Mackenzie (96.39) and Karen Fletcher (97.18).

The race was won by Dundee Road Runner over-40 veteran Gillian Sangster in 64.54 with Jillian Gordon of Kinross Road Runners taking second place in 65.34 and Linlithgow AC’s Charlotte Fortune finishing third in 66.40.

Dundee Road Runners took the team prize ahead of second placed Carnegie.
