The first race started in a very light breeze with the Lasers of Graeme and Murray Hadden hitting the line on the gun,
Jim was becalmed some distance from the line and Duncan Brown (Laser) was even further back carrying out some on-water repairs to his boat.

Graeme got to the first mark ahead of Murray and managed to keep ahead for the remainder of the race, eventually finishing less than 10 seconds ahead. Meanwhile Jim was recovering from his poor start – helped by the wind building during the race - and won the race on handicap by one second from Graeme, Murray finishing third. Duncan sailed the wrong way round one of the marks so was disqualified.

The wind continued to build for the second race. Again Graeme and Murray got the best starts but Jim and Duncan were not far behind. Jim got a tack wrong and filled his boat with water – spending much of the first lap bailing while sailing, effectively putting him out of contention for the leading places. He did manage to catch Duncan so they finished third and fourth respectively.

Graeme and Murray had a very exciting race with the lead changing hands throughout the race. Murray rounded the last mark just ahead of Graeme but Graeme’s experience showed in picking a better route up the last beat to take the race by just two seconds.

Next Sunday is the last sailing day of the year at Forfar and the Series is still open with Jim and Graeme in
contention.
