KIRRIE THISTLE pulled off a great win on Saturday, travelling to Broxburn in the opening round of the East of Scotland Cup and winning by a goal to nil.
The winning goal came midway through the first half when Stewart Russell collected a Craig Stevenson cross and cracked the ball home via the post.
Kirrie were on the back foot thereafter, but held out for victory, with goalkeeper Chris Hutchison outstanding.
Forfar West End also did well, after struggling in the league.
They drew two-each at Rosyth but went on to win the penalty shoot-out.
There was no joy for Forfar Albion, however, the men from Guthrie Park going down to Dalkeith by four goals to one.
This coming Saturday, Forfar West End return to East Super League action, when they are at home to Hill of Beath Hawthorn.
In the East North League, Forfar Albion travel to take on Dundee Violet while Kirrie Thistle are at home to Lochee Harp. (All kick-offs are 2.30 pm).
