Nominations sought for sports awards

Angus Council Sports Development Team are looking for the county’s sporting stars for their annual sports awards ceremony in the Reid Hall, Forfar in March.

Athletes, players, coaches, friends and family encouraged to submit forms for consideration by the selection panel as the team looks to honour the commitment, achievements and dedication of all these individuals and teams at all levels of sport across Angus.

Angus Councillor Colin Brown said: “I would encourage as many people as possible to provide nominations for the Angus Sports Awards so that we can celebrate the achievements of local sports people, coaches, administrators and volunteers across Angus. The county is clearly rich with sporting talent assisted by the continued support of the willing and eager volunteers who give up their spare time to sporting activities in the local area.”

There are six categories: Sports Personality of the Year; Young Sports Personality of the Year; Coach of the Year; Service to Sport Award; Team of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability. Nominations can be completed and submitted on-line at and forms are also available from all Angus Council leisure facilities, ACCESS offices, libraries and museums. They should be returned to Laura Baxter, Angus Council Sports Development Team, The Yard, Queenswell Road, Forfar, DD8 3JA by 5pm on Friday, February 10.
