Much improved despite result

Strathie Sharks under 16s went in to their last league game of the season looking for a win over near neighbours Carnoustie.

After a close opening 20 minutes and some great defending by the Sharks, Carnoustie broke the deadlock to score the opening try of the game.

Strathie were unlucky not to score themselves before half time with some great rucking from the forwards before the backs passed the ball through the hands at pace.

However a great tackle from the Carnoustie fullback thwarted the Sharks chance to draw level right on the half-time whistle.

The second half carried on with some tremendous rugby being played from both teams.

Again the Sharks were unlucky to be denied a certain try, when the referee gave Carnoustie a penalty metres from their try line saying the Sharks players were deliberately crossing.

Carnoustie kicked clear and the momentum was lost.

The Sharks carried on applying the pressure looking for their first try of the game. However it was Carnoustie who managed to score a few tries later in the second half to secure the points.

All in all it was a much improved cohesive display from the Sharks and they gave Carnoustie a very tough game right to the final whistle.

Final score: Carnoustie 27, Strathmore Sharks under 16s 0.
