The last two league games of the season were played on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

On Tuesday league contenders Dave Anderson (skip), Cameron McKiddie, Stuart Cameron and Isobel Keillor met Dave Urquhart (skip), Scott Ritchie, Dave Congreve and Bill Keillor. Both teams had league winning aspirations.

The Anderson rink won the first two ends but the Urquhart rink responded by taking the same scores at the third and fourth ends. After four ends the rinks were peels on three shots each. Dave Anderson moved up a gear and took seven shots from the remaining portion of the match whereas Dave Urquhart’s rink only managed a single. The Anderson rink took the points with a 10-4 win and the Urquhart league aspirations suffered a bit of a blow.

The second league game of the week had Ewan Cameron (skip), Doug Henderson, Malcolm Brown and Angus Redford playing Bill Keillor (skip, subbing for Malcolm Nicoll), Dave Congreve, Mike Downie and Mietek Lojewski. Ewan took a four at the first end then failed to score over the next three ends by which time the Nicoll rink had accumulated seven shots. The Cameron rink went into the last end trailing 9-6 and for a while it looked as if Ewan might square the game but taking only a brace this meant that the playing part of the contest gave the Nicoll rink a 9-8 win. However when three penalty points were added to the Cameron rink’s score Ewan took the two league points with a recorded score of 11-9.
