On Thursday, May 26 the Scottish Ladies National Fly Fishing team took the Gold Medal at the Ladies International Fly Fishing match at Carron Valley Fishery.
This makes it three golds in three years from Llyn Trawsfynydd, Wales in 2014 and Grafham Water, England in 2015.
Each country has a team of 12 anglers, with one reserve and was fished from 9 am till 5 pm and all fish were caught, measured and carefully returned to the water.
The top rod overall was Jane Wright from Cove who caught and released 17 fish.
The team is selected by fishing in two qualifying matches and comprises ladies from around Scotland.
Kathleen Shepherd from Forfar was this year’s captain.
Sandra McTear, Ann Boyce, Gail Annall, Jean Ferguson all from Ayrshire; Morag Wallace and Liz McLellan, Fife, Helen Philp, Kinross; Sheila Mannion, Perthshire, Jane Wright, Dunbartonshire; Liz Fraser, Dione Roberts, Lana Taylor all from Edinburgh.
The coach is Alan Hill, himself a skilled and successful competition angler.
