Junior Cricket at Strathmore Cricket Club emerges from indoors on Monday of next week, for a busy season of practice and competition.
The club’s younger members have been preparing for the new season by participating in Street20 cricket at Lochside Leisure Centre and a sports camp on April 6, but the time has come to move outside for the new season.
Once again the club will be fielding junior teams at under 11, under 12, under 13 and under 15 levels.
This season will also see under-18 cricket continue at Lochside Park, following last year’s revival.
All of this is on top of regular weekly coaching programmes which help children and young people hone their skills.
These weekly sessions run from 6.15 pm to 8 pm each Monday evening.
All sessions are run by qualified coaches, with considerable experience in supporting the development of young cricketers.
Last year, Strathmore Cricket Club had about 40 junior members. This year the club hopes to build on this base and bring in many more young players.
Local cricket development officer Clarence Parfitt has already been in some of the local primary schools, giving children taster sessions. The club hopes that this will have generated an interest and that some children will want to develop their interest further.
New members will be very welcome at the first coaching session on April 18, whether they have any playing experience or not.
