Forfar Ladies’ mixed fortunes

In the Smith Trophy this week four ladies teams challenged four teams from Forfar Men’s Curling Club and there was mixed fortune on the rinks.

However, when all the scores were added, Forfar Men came out victorious with 44 shots to 39. The men retained the trophy and a wonderful evening was had by all with great camaraderie in all the games.

Two club trophy games were played last week Maureen Pattullo took charge 
with Alison Orr (sub), 
Elizabeth Robertson and Elizabeth Anderson playing Helen Christie with Heather Farquhar, Moira Haggart and Mary Campbell, it was peels with eight shots at the sixth end.

However, Maureen went 
on to win two shots at 
the seventh and a further 
two at the eighth giving 
the overall score Maureen 
12 shots to Helen’s eight shots.

On the next rink Anne Shaw, Moira Adam, Diana Ewart (sub), and Margaret Wallace played Jean Balfour, Irene Millar, Rhoda Keith (sub) and Kate Fairlie (sub).

Jean took the lead with two shots at the first end, Anne followed winning single shots at both the second and third ends.

It was very close up to the sixth end where Anne just edged away to leave the final score Anne winning six shots to three.
