Fantastic achievements for Forfar swimmers

Six swimmers from Forfar Amateur Swimming Club (FASC) took part in the Midland District Open and Age Group Championships.

Against the best swimmers in Tayside, Jack Green showed he was better than the best. Jack won two gold medals in the 100 metre individual butterfly swim and the 100m backstroke, and followed this up with two silver medals in the 200m backstroke and 200m breaststroke.

He was also the fastest boy in his age group for the 100m freestyle. Unfortunately he was just a fraction off the qualifying time, so was not able to collect another gold medal.

Erin Brown also swam well to win a silver medal in the 100m backstroke, and was third in the 200m backstroke. She swam magnificently in the 100m freestyle final to gain two places from her heat and bag another bronze medal. She also achieved a fourth place in the 100m butterfly.

Ellie McCallum swam well, despite an injury, to be fifth in 200m backstroke and reach the final of the 100 back.

Rohan Brown also did well to reach a final and was fourth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in 200 backstroke

Mac Whyte and Ethan Brown gained great experience in the new 50m Olympia pool, with Ethan swimming especially well given that he was swimming at the very bottom of the 10-12 age group.

Thanks to Mike Milne, Lynne Brown, Karen Fletcher, Mark Green, Neil Valentine and Gary Nisbet for acting as poolside helpers and technical officials.
