THE FORFAR ACADEMY S2 Boys took one giant stride closer to the Angus Cup trophy with a heroic victory over Webster’s High School.

The first half saw Forfar dominating all areas of the field.

The deadlock was broken midway through the half when Forfar were awarded a penalty for handball in the box. The penalty was excellently executed by midfielder Fraser Edward, sending a fierce strike high into the net.

Forfar continued to push but were thwarted by some desperate defending.

Into the second half, and the elements were starting to take effect.

Blistering heat brought forward fatigue into both sides and an uneven surface made for a scrappy event.

A change of system and personnel breathed new life into the Forfar attack and they doubled their advantage through Kieran Crighton after a good build up play from Jason King and a neat through ball by Adam Davidson.

The home side halved the deficit minutes later from a scrap in the box following a corner.

Webster’s pushed on in the dying minutes but could not break through the resilient back line of Forfar.

The final whistle blew and Forfar had clinched their rightful place in the cup final. A great effort by all involved, and congratulations must go to the boys.
