STRATHMORE Cricket Club’s outing to Stoneywood Dyce survived the weekend wash-out.

But, with only ten travelling team members, it was always going to be a tough ask for the men from Lochside.

They gave it their best shot, but found runs hard to come by.

Nigel Hazel and Gary Hewitson put on 44 for the first wicket, but when Nigel went for 28 and Norman Milton departed the scene after hitting 21 it was all down-hill for Strathie, and they were bundled out for 91.

M. Hasan picked up five wickets for 32 and J. Snow took three for 12.

Having put on 55 for the first wicket, it looked plain sailing for the men from the north, but then Graham Hewitson and Chris Milne put the brakes on the scoring with some very conservative bowling.

Hewitson finished with impressive figures of five for 11 and Chris Milne took two for 29, as Stoneywood Dyce scrambled over the line for the loss of eight wickets.

An extremely wet summer season is fast drawing to a conclusion, with the second last league outing at home to Meigle this coming Saturday.

The final league game, on Sunday, August 20, brings Mannofield down to the lochside.

This Sunday, the second team travel to take on Forthill, while the action at the lochside on the same day will focus on the Factory Cup six-a-side cricket tournament (see back page for full details).
