NIGEL Hazel was the Strathmore Cricket Club batting hero as the first team returned to winning ways in the league at Kinross.

In what is always a tricky batting track, Strathie fielded first and soon had the hosts toiling.

Indeed, Kinross were skittled out for 125, with Shaun Wilkie, Gary and Graham Hewitson and Andy Cooper each taking a couple of scalps.

In reply, most of the Strathie batsmen toiled, but not Nigel Hazel.

He spanked eleven fours and one six in his match-winning innings of 74 as the visitors got past the winning post in the 29th over.

C. Watson took four wickets for 44 runs, but Kinross couldn’t prise Hazel out until the damage was done.

The action continues this Saturday with a trip to Stoneywood Dyce, the last league outing on the road for 2011, with the second team entertaining Clackmannan on the Sunday.

A reminder, too, of the rescheduled Factory Cup six-a-side competition which is set to go ahead on Sunday, August 14, with full details to follow. It looks as if there are quite a number of teams participating, so an early Sunday start could well be on the cards.
