A pair of Forfar Young Curlers were part of the Low Road Final winning team at the Asham U17 Slam in Forfar this week.
Euan MacDiarmid and Bruce Keillor won the Low Road Final for the second successive slam event following their win in Aberdeen.
MacDiarmid skip, Drew Thomson third, Keillor second and Ross Cormack lead won two of their three group games to finish second, defeating Keron 6-4 and Aitken 8-4 alongside a 6-2 loss to Lockhart.
Team Smith was defeated 5-2 in the semi-final to set up a re-run of that losing group game, with Lockhart standing in the team’s way.
But it wasn’t to be a repeat result as the Forfar representatives helped Team MacDiarmid to a 7-4 win.
Playing as lead for Team Lockhart was FYC’s own James Craik.
The team drew with Keron and lost 12-2 to Aitken, qualifying for the quarter-final in the last available spot.
They edged past the all-girl Team Hamilton in that round before seeing off Team Kerr 9-4, including a big six in the third end.
Other FYC representatives includded MNicola Joiner, whose team went out in the quarter-finals, and Beth Dandie, who also saw her team crash out at that stage of the competition.
