Another busy week for sailors

Have your say

A light breeze from the east, complete with gusts, greeted the Forfar Sailing Club sailors on Tuesday evening, and although it was to be run as a pursuit race the sailors were pleased to have Graham Topping’s services as race officer.

In the expectation of the wind dying down, a short course was set, with David Smith’s singly-manned Firefly beating up first, then the two Solos of Tony Walker and Jim Green, followed by Becci and Hannah Oosterhoorn in an Enterprise and finally the two Lasers of Malcolm Heron and Graeme
Knox.

Tony overtook David early on, as did Jim later in that lap, while Becci was passed by the Lasers.

Tony started to stretch out a good lead, and the Lasers overtook Jim in the second lap. Graeme was proving faster than Malcolm in their personal race, increased the gap and came close to catching Tony towards the end of the 50-minute race.

Meanwhile, Becci had got the better of David, and so the final placings were: 1, Tony; 2, Graeme; 3, Malcolm; 4, Jim; 5, Becci and 6, David.

One sailor went for a rinse - Jim messed up on a roll-tack but succeeded in righting swiftly and keeping his place.

No sailing took place on Sunday.
