Angling

IT has long been thought that there were big brownies in Lintrathen Loch and this proved to be the case as long standing Lintrathen member, Jim Mosley from Arbroath, took a beautiful one at 5lbs while fishing behind the island.

Jim took the fish on a Diawl Bach using a floating line.

There was quite a flow of coloured water coming down the burn and he had previously taken a few smaller browns on Crunchers and Diawl Bachs.

Once the water in the loch cleared later in the week, fish were being taken all over on a variety of traditional loch flies on slow intermediates and sink tip lines.

Club results were as follows:- Glenrothes & Freuchie Angling Club, two boats, 16 fish for 28lbs 2 ozs; Blairgowrie & District, five boats, 32 for 59lbs 15ozs; Bridge of Don C.C., three boats, 17 for 19lbs 2ozs; Ferry Fly Fishers, five boats, 31 for 62lbs 8ozs; Monifieth AC, five boats, 15 for 22lbs 9ozs; Aberdeen Angling Association, six boats, 27 for 31lbs 4ozs.
