WEST EARN A SHARE AT TAYPORT

FORFAR West End were knocked off the top of the East Super League on Saturday - when they lost their one hundred per cent record at Tayport.

However, they had to come from behind to grab a share of the spoils in a two-two draw - that after taking an early lead.

West went in front from the penalty spot, Bryan Duell converting after Robbie Holden was felled in the box.

Tayport were back on level terms after half an hour, Barry McNaughton getting on the end of a Robbie Kenneth knock-down from a corner to sweep the ball home.

Minutes before the break James Russell burst through to put the home side two-one in front.

That's how things stood until the very last minute, when a stand-side assistant spotted a hand-ball in the Port box, allowing Andy McDonald to level the scores from the spot.

In the East North League, Kirrie Thistle were involved in a four-all draw with Downfield at Westview Park while Forfar Albion also shared the spoils in a two-all draw at Dundee North End.

In Kirriemuir, Calum Fox gave the Spiders an early advantage, but Thistle hit back to surge into a three-one lead, Ally Scott hitting a brace and Stuart Farquharson bagging the other.

Kit Bremner reduced the leeway for Downfield just before the interval, and further goals by Andy Payne and Calum Cox had the Dundee outfit up four-three.

However, the Downfield joy was shortlived, for Phil Donaldson levelled to maintain Thistle's unbeaten league record, which has reaped seven points from three outings.

Forfar Albion had to come from behind twice to earn a share of the spoils at Dundee North End.

Sean Kelly opened for the Dokens, only for Danny Smith to level just before the break.

Kevin Steele put North End back in front, but Mark McIntosh earned Albion a share with a leveller ten minutes from time.

This coming Saturday, all three local junior sides are involved in the opening round of the East of Scotland Cup.

Forfar Albion travel to take on Haddington Athletic, Forfar West End entertain Broughty Athletic and Kirrie Thistle head for Bankfoot Athletic. (All kick-offs 2.30 pm).
