Forfar Athletic manager Dick Campbell could have the luxury of an almost full squad to select from for the fixture against second in the table Alloa at Recreation Park on Saturday.

This is on the assumption that no injuries or suspensions have been picked up from the re-arranged game at Albion Rovers on Tuesday evening which took place as the Dispatch and Herald went to press.

Campbell is hoping that the two away fixtures will see his side get back on winning form after a home draw against Arbroath on Saturday: “It was disappointing losing a goal in the 93rd minute. I thought Arbroath were far superior in the first half but we were much better than them in the second half.

“I just felt sorry for the players to be honest. But I went to see Arbroath play on the Wednesday night against Celtic and they did really well. For us it was great to see Dale Hilson get a goal on his debut.”

Commenting on the amount of added time given to the game, Campbell added: “I’ll be giving Iain Brines the referee a new watch for Christmas!”

Skipper Mark McCulloch was due to return to the ranks for that game having at last served his one match ban in the derby against Arbroath. Jamie Bishop will also be back fully fit after his loan spell with Stirling Albion, while Danny Denholm should also be back.

Meanwhile, the Forfar Athletic board are looking to improve the floodlight situation at Station Park.

A spokesman for the club said: “With the installation of the 3G pitch, the use of the floodlights has dramatically increased, placing much higher loading on the system.

“The increased cost of repair, maintenance and energy would become unsustainable should the current system not be upgraded.

“A number of companies that supply modern floodlighting systems have been requested to quote which will then be discussed by the board before applications are made to grant agencies for financial assistance.”
