Kirrie Thistle claim major scalp in cup competition
KIRRIE Thistle claimed a major scalp at the weekend when they knocked East Premier League side Oakley United out of the East of Scotland Cup.
The third round tie played in Fife finished all-square at two-each and Thistle went on to claim victory in the resultant penalty shoot-out.
Thistle had to come from two goals behind to win the tie.
Charlie Scarborough was the Oakley marksman with a brace.
But Sean Taylor breathed new life into the Thistle bid for a shock with a goal in 70 minutes and, ten minutes later it was all square, thanks to Gary Archibald.
Forfar Albion’s trip to Lochee Harp for a league match was again called off due to pitch conditions in Dundee.
This coming Saturday Kirrie Thistle entertain Coupar Angus in an East North league match which kicks-off at 2.15 pm.
