Closing date looms for
award nominations
ANGUS Council sports development team needs your nominations for the Angus Sports Awards 2011 in association with Angus Ahead.
The event is taking place on Tuesday, March 6 at the Reid Hall, Forfar.
With less than two weeks to go until the closing date for nominations members of the development team are reminding all possible nominators to get their completed nomination forms sent in as soon as possible.
Angus Council sports development team is looking to honour the commitment, achievements and dedication of individuals and teams involved in sporting activity across Angus.
The Angus Sports Awards 2011 are designed to honour those involved in sport across Angus from players, athletes and coaches through to administrators and volunteers.
Without these people sport would not flourish as it does across Angus – this is your chance to say a big thank you!
Nominations are required in six categories as follows:- Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Auchterhouse Country Sports) .
Young Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Radio Tay – Cash For Kids). Coach of the Year (sponsored by CoachingAngus).
Service to Sport Award (sponsored by Angus College).
Team of the Year (sponsored by McDonalds).Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability (sponsored by Angus Disability Sport in partnership with National Oilwell Varco) - This award aims to recognise an individual with a physical, sensory or learning disability who took part in sporting activities in 2011.
This award will only consider nominations for people below Paralympic and elite levels.
Nominations for the Angus Sports Awards 2011 can be completed and submitted on-line at www.angusahead.com/asa and forms are also available from all Angus Council leisure facilities.They should be returned to Laura Baxter, Angus Council Sports Development Team, The Yard, Queenswell Road, Forfar, by the closing date - Friday, February 10.
