CHRIS CRAFT HAS SONS TIED IN KNOTS

FORFAR Athletic got their league campaign off to a cracking start with a four-one home victory over Dumbarton at Station Park this afternoon (Saturday).

The Loons couldn't have asked for a better start.

The game was only two minutes old when Templeman, taking a clever pass from Hilson, tricked his way to the by-line and cut back for a defender to crash the ball off his own post into the path of Ross Campbell, who made no mistake.

Three minutes later and Dumbarton were level courtesy of the softest spot-kick award you're ever likely to witness.

Ross Campbell was judged to have handled as he made himself big to block a point-blank blast from the right, and Chaplain stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

The refereee then became the centre of attraction for the remainder of half. Having stared off poorly he only got worse, and it seemed if you only had to shout to get a free-kick.

Some of his decisions were mind-boggling, but his yellow card to Templeman for a late challenge only served to fire up the tall striker, who was the victim of some rough treatment yet got little protection.

He went on to have an immense game, and all the best chances fell to the home side.

Ross Campbell headed wide when rising unchallenged in the box and the Loons had the ball in the net for a second time before the break after more wizardy from Sanny, the strike being ruled offside.

In the seond half Forfar just got better and they wrapped up the points with three goals.

Dale Hilson fired home at the second attempt after Templeman took the goalkeeper out of the equation with more quick thinking, and then the man-of-the-match capped a top class display with two goals of his own.

The first was a deft header from a Martyn Fotheringham free-kick and the second a penalty conversion after substutute Bryan Deasley had been downed in the box.

Late in the game Scott Gallacher pulled off a save right out of the top drawer, turning an Andy Geggan 25-yard free-kick destined for the top corner over the bar.

The result, coming hard on the heels of that excellent CIS Cup away win at Stirling Albiopn, sets things uip nicey for the Loons trip to Hampden park on Tuesday evening, to take on Queen's Park in the Alba tourney.
