A great effort
Forfar Road Runners were worthy runners-up in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the Hartley Cup Relays in Burntisland on Sunday.
Forfar men’s A team (aka ‘Five Loons and a Latvian’) finished in 1hr 18 mins 40 secs, less than a minute behind Anster Haddies to take second place, with Kinross Road Runners in third (1.20.05).
The much depleted Forfar B team (aka Grey Hair to Nae Hair) put in a brave performance to finish in sixth place in 1.31.35. In the women’s competition, Forfar’s A Team (Girls R Loud) also narrowly missed out on top spot, finishing in 1.16.22, just 47 seconds behind winners Kinross Road Runners (1.15.35). Anster Haddies took 3rd in 1.19.13, with Forfar’s B team - The Last Minute Dolly Mixtures - finishing 5th in 1.38.04.
The mixed team competition was won by Perth Road Runners in 1.08.59, ahead of hosts Beacon Runners (1.12.51) and Kinross RR (1.15.17). In addition to the excellent team performances, Forfar’s Tracy Morgan picked up the individual prize for the fastest female lap of the day while Erin Brown posted the fastest time for a junior.
Best lap times for the Forfar runners were as follows: Brian Bonnyman 5.55, Stephen Connor 6.22, Ewan Greenhill Jr. 6.28, Craig Stewart 6.31, Ruslans Sûlga 6.38, Tracy Morgan 6.49, Lynn Henderson 7.03, Ewan Greenhill 7.14, Ron Milne 7.21, Brian Niblock 7.27, Erin Brown 7.35, Jack Davies 7.38, Donna Pass 7.48, Pam Horn 8.40, Hugh Mackenzie 9.03, Karen Campbell 9.06, Sandra Pattie 9.13, Liz Nicholl 9.16, Angie Mackenzie 9.49, Sarah Niblock 11.39.
This Sunday’s club meeting will be a social evening, meeting in the Osnaburg at 7.30 p.m.
