Jack overall circuit winner

THE final six mile handicap race of the season on Sunday attracted nine members doing battle over the familiar Suttieside, Benzil, Carseburn circuit.

Jack Davies emerged overall winner with a time of 44-23, recording a fine 21-30 for the 5 km split.

Sandra Mearns was leading lady with a new Personal Best of 51-33; other finishers include Hugh McKenzie 48-23, Sandra Pattie 52-05, Angie Mackenzie 54-08 and Heather Anderson 57-15. Members completing a 5km single lap were Ewan Greenhill 19-58, Lisa Mackenzie 31-39 and Donna Joiner 31-42.

On Sunday October 2, Jack Davies contested the BUPA Edinburgh 5k winning his age category in 22 min 53 secs.

On Sunday October 9 Jack continued his busy spell at the Great Yorkshire 10km in Sheffield, finishing sixth in his age group in 45 mins 22 secs. Bev Smeaton took part in the Liverpool marathon and was rewarded with a new PB of 4hrs 38 mins 24 secs, knocking 20 minutes off her previous best.

Next up are the Quensferry 1/2 m on October 29, Jedburgh 1/2 m on October 30, Templeton 10 mile on November 6, Glen Ogle 33 on November 5 and Glen Clova 1/2 on November 12.
