There was a strong Forfar contingent at the Huntly triathlon two weeks ago.

Alastair Caird participated in the Standard Race - a 1500m swim, a 37k cycle and a 10k run, for his first ever triathlon. He put in a very good showing in a time of 2hrs 48minutes and 50seconds.

He was just beaten by Forfar Road Runner (FRR) and Forfar Amateur Swimming Club (FASC) member, Hugh Mackenzie who was extremely pleased with his first attempt at the Standard distance in a time of 2-48-48.

Ian Cochrane managed 2-54-15, helped by a good cycle and run time. Fellow FASC member Lindsay Bedford completed the race in a respectable 3-03-06,

However, they were all eclipsed by FASC member Ian Wilson who completed the race in 2-46-23.

FASC and FRR members Angie Mackenzie and Karen Fletcher participated in the Sprint Distance, a 750m swim, a 26.5k cycle and a 5k run. Angie achieved an overall time of 1-46-30 while Karen, who has undertaken the Huntly Sprint before, had a personal best time of 1-51-23.
