There is not long to go before the winter sporting season and so Forfar Indoor Sports are gearing up for skating, curling and bowling.
The season begins on Saturday, October 5, with the three sporting groups Forfar Curling Club Centre (FCCC), Forfar Indoor Bowling Club (FIBC) and Ice World Skating Club (IWSC) all working hard to prepare to welcome both old and new faces.
Mike Ferguson, managing director of Forfar Indoor Sports, said: “Whether you are a curler, bowler or skater a warm welcome awaits and new members looking for something to do this winter are most welcome.
“On Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, FCCC are holding ‘Try Curling’ sessions between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with trained coaches on hand to demonstrate the finer points of the game.
“The sessions are open to all ages with no experience required, simply bring along warm clothing and a pair of flat-soled shoes.”

Mike continued: “As we are heading towards the Winter Olympics this is a great year to try curling, one of Scotland’s more traditional and sociable sports.”
Ice skating also starts on Saturday, October 5, with skating lessons in the morning and open general skating lessons in the afternoon with both sessions repeated on Sunday, October 6.
Anyone interested in taking ice skating lessons this season should go along on Saturday or Sunday morning and register.
To encourage more people to the pleasures of ice skating, IWSC has dropped its prices and is making the ice skating sessions a bit more interactive.
Back by popular demand is the family fun session being held on Friday nights between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. for only £3 per person plus £1 skate hire.

Meanwhile, Forfar Indoor Bowling Club enjoyed asuccessful season last year attracting several new members and it is now looking to build on that success this year.
A ‘Try Bowls’ session is being held on Sunday, October 6, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“With a wide selection of competitions for both the social and competitive bowler FIBC has something for everyone.
“Coaches and experienced bowlers will be on hand to help you experience a game so come along and try bowling for yourself. It is a terrific indoor sport for the cold winter months.”
